Welcome to the animal enclosure at saltash.net community school

Webmasters, make money displaying Oxado contextual ads!ss

Please meet "Princess" or "Alice"... or even "Princess Alice" !!!! A Cornish Black sow who is now living in the enclosure. Her floppy ears make it difficult for her to see where she's going sometimes and apparently she has a silly character !!!

Thanks to our friends at BBC Cornwall.

Our livestock area works in partnership with Sir Robert Geffery's Primary school at Landrake who will soon have a webcam on their animals. Their website is at http://www.sir-robert-gefferys.cornwall.sch.uk

Please "Adopt" a piglet and get a mention on the site. Help us grow the project.
This project is a joint venture between our two schools and is not cheap to maintain.

We would welcome any sponsorship offers or donations. Would you like to advertise on the site or form a longer lasting relationship with our schools and our work? If so please get in touch! PLEASE HELP US!!! Demand for the webcam is so great that our current model cannot cope properly, if at all. We would be SO pleased to talk with anybody who could help us provide a really good live streaming experience for all of the webcam watchers and who could help us realise the global potential that this project has. Some of the communications from around the world have been amazing and we wish to use them educationally to illustrate both the power of ICT and to provide learning experiences for our students. PLEASE HELP US !!!! Contact the webmaster as above or the Headteacher on head@saltash.cornwall.sch.uk

Here's a picture of the first piglet , captured from our webcam by Margaret from Brisbane, Australia and emailed to me this morning!

Some of the new litter can be seen below, sunning themselves under the infra-red lamp !

The gestation period of a pig is 114 days or 3 months 3 weeks and 3 days. Dolores was served by a Tamworth Boar and her farrow is due on 7th/8th October 2006. The 12 live piglets from her first farrowing were reared successfully and sold on.

Big Hi to Howard Bentham from Radio Hereford and Worcester and his chums keith (aka Bill?) and Kat who he claims wanted to be named after the runts ???

Why not have a look at our rural dimension/weather cam?!

This offers live views from the Lynher river around to the Tamar with Plymouth, Devonport Dockyard and Plymouth Sound in the distance

best of all it is a streaming image and you can control the camera ! In fact it is probably the best webcam in the South West!

It's a good quality PTZ and it's here you'll need to install a small active X file and run it under Internet Explorer !

Or check out our weather conditions from our weather station on www.saltashweather.net now running in IE and Firefox at full size

Hi everyone:Well done to Jan Berryman, on such a great success with Delores and her Piglets. All the hard work has paid off:Regards:Louise

i think they are cute

What amazing pictures! Perhaps you will want to contact George Clooney's pig, "Max", and tell him about Delores! During the last interview I saw, where Barbara Walters interviewed George Clooney and "Max," George said that "Max" was looking for female companionship.... and since we all know that George has plenty of that, why should Max be any different? :
Go for it, Delores!:Lynn M. Janczak:Severson & Werson:San Francisco

This is such good fun.. This morning i am having my breakfast 'monitoring' Delores sleeping.. I can see that her udders are lovely and full for when the little piglets awake...and all is well... Thanks so much for the brilliant idea. kind regards. Debbie N

Dear Dave; It's 23.10 here in CT, USA and 04.10 over there. The piglets are fast asleep but I just love to watch them either as they feed or while they sleep! Until just over 2 years ago I lived in Liskeard, not far from Saltash, and it's wonderful to be able to see something from home in such glorious colour and without any time delay in the pictures. Thank you for allowing the rest of the world to have a window on the pigs! Good for you Delores! You're a wonderful mum! Jane; Waterbury, CT, USA

5th June 2007

Delilah's temperament was judged as not being suitable for her to work with children so she has gone back to the farm. We received this email message for her from 2 of her fans..

Dear Delilah,

Me and my sister have been very worried about you because our auntie and uncle who live in Landrake thought you had bitten someone and were going to be made into pork.  Our Grandad in Norfolkhas lots of pigs who win prizes in shows but we don't think any of them are as beautiful as you.  My sister Jemma who is 8 loves you because you have red hair like her!  She wants me to ask you if you ever get teased about it like she does?  She can't always tell you and Dorothy apart but I can.

We sponsor a donkey called Katy at Hillside Animal Sanctuary.  We do not have much money left over but we are so relieved we and some other friends would like to buy you a present.

We are sad that we can't watch you on the cam any more but we hope you are happy in your new home  Is there anything that you would like and if so where shall we post it to?

Lots and lots of love

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Jemma and Louise

P.S.  Lots of love to Dorothy too!!
